Bring out the dueling pistols, Google just gave a smack to the “Face”book with a white glove.<\/p>\n
We know Google has tried in the past to have something similar to Facebook by creating Wave and Orkut, but no matter how they tried, they did not succeed at achieving the same popularity as Facebook. However, after rolling out its new social platform (Google+) last week, it could be that Google is finally ready to give Facebook a run for its money.<\/p>\n
Among several awesome features of the new Google+ are “Circles” (which lets you organize the people you “follow” and are friends with, including selective privacy), “Hangouts” (a pretty cool new way to video chat with multiple people), “Huddle” (you can text groups of people or individual friends) and “Sparks” (an easy way to to find and share your interests). With all of these in one easily manageable platform, Google+ has the ability to convert a number of Facebook junkies, as well as the potential to become as big as (or even bigger than) Facebook.<\/p>\n
Now the big question is how will the public respond to Google+ and what will happen to Facebook? Will Google finally take the #1 rank in Social Networks? Perhaps a great divide is near\u2026 something similar to Mac vs. PC users. On one hand, there are the people who don\u2019t like change (AKA \u201cLuddites\u201d) and will more than likely stay settled and loyal to Facebook. For many, change can be scary and difficult to accept. On the other hand, there are the early adopters who are eager to embrace new technology and change before most others, often influencing the way a new brand or product will be accepted.<\/p>\n
